Cross-County Skiing
Lac La Biche region is home to three Nordic ski trails: Beaver Lake, Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park and local-favourite, Shaw Lake. These trails are maintained by the Lac La Biche Ski Club and Alberta Parks.

Ice Fishing
Ice fishing for walleye or northern pike in the Lac La Biche Region is a key authentic Alberta experience. Spend a weekend with friends catching memories. Hut rentals available.

Lac La Biche County staff flood and maintain outdoor rinks at the following locations. The rinks are weather dependent and open seasonally.

Winter Festival of Speed
February 28 to March 2, 2025
Experience the ultimate winter celebration at the Winter Festival of Speed in Lac La Biche! Thrill to ice races, charity slalom runs, and a snowball race, or try an intro to snowmobiling. Explore the vintage trail ride and display show 'n shine, marvel at ice fly-ins, and enjoy stunning ice and snow sculptures. Bring the whole family for the kids’ carnival, trappers’ displays, axe throwing, and scenic sleigh rides. Cap off the festivities with dinner and live music on Saturday. Snowmobilers can explore scenic routes maintained by the St. Paul Trailblazer Snowmobile Club, ensuring thrilling adventures through snowy landscapes.
Don't miss Dashing Through the Snow in December at the Musée St. Paul Museum on 50th Ave, featuring indoor crafts, tractor hay rides (weather permitting), hot chocolate, apple cider, and a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
